Job Summary:

A fantastic new opportunity has arisen to join one of the largest expert nursing teams in the UK to deliver first class specialist Urology Care. This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Band 6/7 Urology / Continence Care Nurse Specialist who will be passionate in supporting a recognised care pathway of urology patients within the Acute Urology Service and Community Catheter Service.

 

Location: Maidstone, with travel to Essex, Folkestone and Hastings 

 

Contract: Permanent, working Monday to Friday

 

Responsibilities:

The Nurse Specialist will develop and deliver Urology TWOC & ISC Procedures to patients in Community Clinics and support Acute Care Pathways

  • Provide safe, effective and specialist nursing care, information and advice to patients and their relatives on all aspects of catheter care (including self-catheterisation)
  • Undertake TWOC and ISC clinics within a Community Catheter Service
  • Manage community referrals from the Acute Trust to triage the patient for ISC & TWOC procedures in the community clinic
  • Assess, treat and review adults with continence / urology needs and/or bladder and catheter complications and advise accordingly
  • Teach and support other nursing and non-nursing staff and carers as required
  • Foster good communication links and co-operation between GPs, Community Nurses, Ward Managers, and other disciplines / departments
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into appropriate patient record keeping systems that meet the requirements of data protection and ensure that company liability is within current regulation
  • Support the introduction of new products and provide opportunities for end users to review
  • Participate in discussion and the operation of research programmes affecting patients and the service
  • Work with Company Nurse Manager to set annual clinical objectives and track regularly to ensure timely completion

 

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Nurse RGN (essential)
  • Recognized Urology / Continence Care Qualification (desirable)
  • Car driver essential (home visits will be required)
  • Proven experience with an interest within urology / continence care
  • Knowledge / ability to demonstrate a research-based holistic approach to client care
  • Understanding of financial control / managing a service within budget
  • Evidence of recent post registration training and development (desirable)
  • Community experience (desirable)
