Hollister’s Research & Development division is actively looking for a Product Development Engineer. This position will be a member of the Ostomy & Critical Care New Product Development team. The engineer will lead or support a number of integral activities within the team and the product development process. This will include concept development, design refinement, 3D modeling, design verification and validation, statistical analysis, and execution of design controls. The role requires a collaborative individual who has experience working with cross-functional teams that include colleagues from across the organization including front-end innovation, marketing, engineering, operations, project management, and quality.

The Engineer analyzes test data and interprets results, contributes to critical aspects of a project from design phase to completion, and proposes and designs ideas for amalgamating or introducing technologies, processes, or methods into the organization which have a positive impact. The position operates under supervision for technical tasks, but demonstrates a sound understanding of required skills and Hollister processes, and exercises judgment in preliminary decisions or adaptations in order to complete assigned projects.  The second stage operates under much less supervision than the first and demonstrates an understanding of company policies and procedures.


  • Implements technical projects

  • Supports the completion of team deliverables
  • Ability to perform testing as needed (i.e. perform lab tests, prepare samples, write plan protocols)
  • Analyze test data and interpret results
  • Validates plans within the team and acts on suggestions of improvement
  • Establishes a rapport with his/her work team which allows them to identify key resources and network efficiently
  • Supports technical management in establishing goals and strategies
  • Use systematic techniques and ensure use of the stage gate or other suitable process to create, support, and manage the development of project goals, schedules, and tasks
  • Coordinate cross-functional team activities to meet project or program deliverables.
  • Develops realistic action steps, timetables, and resource estimates for technical projects


 Academic Credentials/Length of Experience 

  • Sr. Engineer:  Bachelor’s degree (related to position) and minimum 8 years’ experience   
  • Engineer:  Bachelor’s degree (relevant to position) and minimum 4 years’ experience
    Specialized skills/technical knowledge                       
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in accomplishing well-defined tasks
  • Articulates relevant technologies and processes to others in the technical group
  • Understands and regularly uses available information resources and systems
  • Solves technical issues using alternative or unique approaches
  • Possesses a combination of rote problem solving and analytic abilities
  • Creates product specifications, drawings, and test methods based on customer needs 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the market and customer needs
  • Recognizes value-added product features and integrates them into product designs
  • Familiar with strengths and weaknesses of Hollister’s key competitors
  • Demonstrates awareness of current technological trends, especially within their specific discipline
  • Understands accounting principles, costing, and financial planning in support of project/program and departmental performance
