SUMMARY: 

The successful candidate plays an integral role, working with Scientists and Engineers in R&D as well as cross functionally, in the development, optimisation and qualification of required technologies, test methods, materials, processes & products. The successful candidate will complete activities required in the building of trial product as well as conducting inspection and testing as required. The role also involves recording of data, analysis of results as well as contributing to the writing of technical reports. The successful candidate will be expected to provide input to drive continuous improvement in their role.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for:

  1. Drive the planning and building of trial product including the sourcing materials, inspection, labelling, shipping and storage of materials and product as directed.
  2. Conduct material and product testing in a methodical and accurate way to capture the results of testing in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice.
  3. Develop product prototypes to facilitate concept development and product or process innovation or improvement.
  4. Investigate and test new materials including competitor product testing
  5. Analyse and evaluate new/alternative testing methodologies and provide recommendations for improvements
  6. Provide technical support to NPD, Global Marketing, Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing.
  7. Execute assignments, development, and investigative plans. Communicate observations and outcomes on a timely basis.
  8. Support the development and qualification of Test Methods.
  9. Manage setup and maintenance of Laboratory Equipment and facilitate calibration.
  10. Actively participate in Lab and office 5S programs.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of  Level 6 qualification in a technical or scientific related discipline required.

 

Desirable experience:

  • 2+ year’s relevant industry experience preferably in medical devices, hygiene or packaging industries.       
  •                                   

Required specialised skills/technical knowledge

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to test products and materials in a methodical and accurate way.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communications skills, written interpersonal and verbal.
  • Team orientated coupled with a high level of enthusiasm and motivation.

 

Desired specialised skills/technical knowledge

  • Manufacturing tooling experience and prototype development.
  • Good working understanding of medical device laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of handling chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
