Summary:
This individual has responsibility for providing clinical and commercial leadership to a team of Stoma Care Nursing staff in the UK Ostomy Business, consistent with the Companies’ mission and vision.
The key deliverables for this position include assisting with the recruitment, retention, engagement and development of a Nursing Team to contribute to the development of Services that clinically supports the overall business. The position holder will also engage with Senior NHS Managers and high level stakeholders across both Acute and Secondary Care, developing collaborative working relationships in order to deliver added value to Hollister products and services.
Location: North of England
Contract: Permanent, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Travel: Approximately 30%
Responsibilities:
Clinical
In collaboration with the Director, Clinical Nursing Services, the individual will:
- Provide guidance, either personally or through alternative sources, of current clinical best practices in associated nursing specialties to Company Nurses
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current certification requirements for the nursing specialities
- Ensure all Nursing Associates obtains training and education in accordance with existing regulations in order to maintain their status as qualified to perform their duties in assigned positions
- Establish professional relationships with NHS management in institutions where staff are assigned and ensure that the Associates are given the latitude to perform their tasks. Also, to foster good communication links and co-operation between Company Nurses, Ward Managers and other disciplines/departments
- Provide for the provision of appropriate patient record keeping systems that meet the requirements of data protection and ensure that company liability is within current regulation
- To be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of care within the designated area ensuring a high standard of patient care. Also, to evaluate and review patterns of working and provide professional support where necessary
- Act as a Stoma Care Nursing Specialist, directly providing services to patients, Acute NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups as appropriate
Leadership
- Monitor the effective and timely record keeping processes used by all team members including the accurate entering of data onto the Trust’s clinical systems within required time frames and ensuring that qualitative information is collected in the designated format
- Provide coaching and encouragement to ensure their team successfully reaches their goals and objectives
- Co-travel with team, be accessible for any queries or support needed as well as being proactive with team development
- Foster strong employee engagement within own team as well as connecting with the wider Clinical Team
- Develop and undertake audits to ensure that nursing practice is safe and effective in accordance with CQC regulations
- To be responsible for service delivery with the available resources, and monitoring of performance against set targets (activity, finance, outcomes)
- To create a constructive environment in which to work effectively with commissioners and partners
- To work with Clinical Pathway and Professional Leads to develop and re-design care pathways with other partners and to implement best practice and ensure maximum use of available resources
- To communicate the Hollister Nursing strategy, including objectives, future plans and current progress against plans to all team members and foster a sense of identity, common purpose and shared values in pursuit of goals and organisational objectives
- To participate in the recruitment, selection and onboarding of new nursing associates in order to develop and grow the Nursing Team
- To work with the Director of Clinical Nursing Services to identify robust pathway and possible areas of future nurse placement
Contribution to the Business
In collaboration with the Director, Clinical Nursing Services, the individual will:
- Establish and monitor annual clinical objectives for Nurse Associates that may be linked to the clinical contribution of company objectives
- Evaluate existing and proposed positions in regards to company investment and economic returns to maximize business growth
- Support the introduction of new products and provide opportunities for end users to review
- Other projects and duties as assigned by Clinical Nurse Director

- Can demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the development of a quality service and Associate development
- Experience of database input
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office
- Experience of/involvement in CQC Regulations
Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in Stoma Care nursing
- Commercial knowledge/experience in dealing with the UK NHS system (desirable)
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience of presenting and/or publishing
Education Requirements:
- Qualified Nurse (RGN) (essential)
- Recognized Stoma Care qualification (desirable)
- Car Driver (essential – travel and home visits will be required)
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:
- Experience with/within the NHS system along with a strong and current understanding of NHS strategy to include knowledge of key drivers in both Acute and Community Sectors
- A strong understanding of national NHS strategy and applied insight to the challenges faced by Local Health Economies (LHE)
- Knowledge of LHE key organizations, structure, implementation of Government Policy with particular focus on Colorectal and Stoma Care pathways
- Intimate knowledge of the Ostomy businesses
- High level of business maturity
- Understanding of basic financial data
Local Specifications (English and Local Language):
- Fluent in written and verbal English

- The anticipated base salary range for this position is £55,000 - £65,000, depending on experience or other legitimate business factors
