This position is a key member of the France Leadership Team and leads the Finance function for the region. This includes financial planning, reporting, performance analysis, market access, and aspects of key account management in the region. This role also has responsibility for the Annual Operating Plan, Midyear Forecast, and the Strategic Plan processes.

The position partners with the management team in making optimal business decisions for growth and profitability. As such, continual monitoring of program effectiveness, reporting of Key Performance Indicators, preparation of annual plans and on-going forecasts and recommending actions to management are key outputs.

Partnership with the Business Unit commercial team is critical with regards to customers, negotiations, tenders, scenario analysis, market dynamics, supply chain matters, pricing and discount arrangements, discount matrix compliance and exception management, business opportunities, market access, key account management, and new product launches (sales forecasting/obsolete inventory management).

The position collaborates with the Shared Service Center in Kaunas to manage all statutory requirements within the region. This includes month end and year-end accounting processes, managing internal and external audits, ensuring financials are in accordance with US and local GAAP, as well as other areas including insurance, payroll, car policy/grids, transfer price, tax compliance, expense report management, and process improvement projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To lead the annual zero based budget annual operating plan (AOP) and midyear forecast (MYR) processes including preparation and review of full P&L plans for each country, timetable management, sales and Opex targeting by country, ability to explain key drivers of actual vs plan performance, and plan presentation reviews.
  • To manage country level strategic planning process ensuring a thorough understanding of the market dynamics affecting the financials. Ensure strategic plan process is in accordance with issued guidelines and assumptions and meet deadlines as per timetables.
  • To oversee the monthly management review process, obtain a thorough understanding of the variances between actual and plan on a monthly and year to date basis, complete operating committee slides, and perform other reporting such as weekly sales, sales analysis and other reporting.
  • Partner with the Business Unit commercial team with regards to customers (hospitals, key accounts, etc), negotiations, tenders, scenario analysis, market dynamics, supply chain matters, pricing and discount arrangements, discount matrix compliance and exception management, sales incentive program, business opportunities, new product launches, supporting key account management, etc.
  • Supervise and manage expectations of the finance team. Develop and coach team members.
  • Partner with the Shared Service Center to manage the statutory and accounting processes including month end and year-end financial close, working with internal and external auditors, annual reports, compliance with US and local GAAP, payroll management, car policy, insurance, expense reporting, inter-company, statutory allocations, transfer pricing, tax reporting and compliance, process improvement projects, etc.
  • To provide ad-hoc reviews/reports and undertake specific projects as requested.
  • Ensure that the management accounts are accurate, in compliance with GAAP, and timely by proactively working with the Financial Shared Service Center
  • Develop sales goals and the Sales Incentive Programs, in conjunction with sales management and human resources. Perform the payout calculations.
  • Provide analysis of market statistics to improve the allocation of sales and marketing resources. Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators to monitor progress against Strategic and annual objectives.
  • Develop and administer, as required, policies and procedures to ensure fiduciary controls are in place and followed.
  • Effective management of all assets, in particular working capital. 
  • With support of the Financial Shared Service Center, and in collaboration with Sales Management, establish customer terms, credit limits, and ensure collections from customers.

  • Executive Presence -- proven experience of successfully influencing those critical to a group’s success, has ability to influence a General Manager, senior leadership, functional leaders and external stakeholders.

Work Experience & Education Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressively senior finance experience, ideally culminating in a Business Unit or Country Finance Manager position of comparable size and complexity.
  • S/he will have previous experience in multiple financial areas (i.e. financial planning and analysis, and statutory and accounting).
  • Global business experience. 
  • Ideally manufacturing experience although not a pre-requisite.
  • University degree required, preferably in finance or accounting. MBA would be an advantage.
  • Recognized accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA).

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:

  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPC & EDW planning and reporting applications would be an advantage.
