Summary
Senior Specialist Continuous Improvement (CI) is a strategic role focused on elevating operational performance and embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. This position drives efficiency and quality by applying proven methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. This role partners with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, implement solutions, and ensure alignment with long-term business objectives. Success in this role means delivering measurable gains in productivity, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction while fostering innovation and accountability at all levels.
Responsibilities
• Lead the improvement Kaizen projects and Value Stream Mapping events as required. This will include both an annual cost savings target and defined improvement measures established as part of the site CI strategy.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement through front line employee engagement with practicing lean tools like: - Standard Work, on the floor problem solving and idea generation etc.
• Develop a Continuous Improvement plan in line with the Global Continuous Improvement (CI) Strategy and Plant Strategy.
• Identifies and develops new project opportunities to drive continuous improvement throughout the Supply Chain. Achieves breakthrough results and eliminates root causes of waste, inefficiencies, non-conformances, and process variation. Individual project cost savings targets should be achieved annually.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the site-wide capability matrix by actively engaging, coaching, and mentoring front-line business leaders to ensure continuous progress and skill advancement.
• Plan and lead internal and external improvement maturity assessments to evaluate current capabilities, identify performance gaps, benchmark against industry standards, and generate prioritized actions that drive continuous improvement across the Supply Chain.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Prolonged sitting or standing
• Frequent virtual meeting and conference calls
• Constant utilization of listening skills
• Connect with the shop floor and relate to front line associates to implement ideas.
• Ability to execute (follow through) on initiatives to deliver the plant goals.
• Domestic travel and some international travel
Work Experience Requirements
• A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Continuous Improvement function preferably in logistics supply chain / distribution environments.
• Strong track record of change implementation.
Education Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree required (preferably in operations management, Engineering or Lean equivalent)
• Project Management experience, preferably full certification.
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge
• Six Sigma - Green Belt Certified (required)
• Six Sigma – Black Belt (preferred)
• Knowledge and application of Lean techniques.
• Strong leadership, change management, and facilitation preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
