Summary
The Senior Accountant AP is responsible for leading and executing advanced accounts payable and related accounting activities within a global or shared services environment. The role ensures timely and accurate financial transactions, supports period-end close, and contributes to financial reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
This position looks after accounts payable processes, partners with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensures adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable processes including third-party invoices, payments, reconciliations, and supplier master data.
- Review supplier statements and resolve discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform advanced accounting activities such as journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
- Monitor and investigate financial discrepancies and variances.
- Prepare financial reports and support statutory, tax, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain financial data integrity in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa or equivalent).
- Collaborate with finance teams, business units, auditors, and service providers.
- Support and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and explanations.
- Act as a key user for financial systems and support enhancements.
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives.
- Maintain accounting documentation and procedures.
Education & Work Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of related experience
Education & Work Preferences
- Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Experience in global/shared service environment.
- Professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
