Summary

The Manufacturing Team Leader is a pivotal role responsible for driving daily performance and operational excellence at the shop floor level. This position leads, coaches, and develops hourly associates to achieve and exceed objectives in safety, quality, service, and cost, in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision. The Team Leader ensures the effective execution of production standards, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and implements policies and corrective actions. This role advocates for team growth and engagement within a collaborative, team-based environment.

The role actively integrates Hollister Production System (HPS) principles, Lean tools, Six Sigma methodologies, and structured problem‑solving techniques to improve process capability, reduce variation, and support standard work execution.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and coaching to assigned teams, enabling associates to meet or exceed goals in safety, quality, service, and cost.

• Maintain a visible presence on the manufacturing floor, spending at least 70% of time managing performance, coaching, and ensuring adherence to standards and HPS practices.

• Conduct employee performance and development reviews, offering constructive feedback and supporting conflict resolution.

• Promote and model organizational values and culture, ensuring consistent application of company policies.

• Ensure completion and documentation of all required training for associates.

• Monitor and coach associates aspiring to leadership roles; recognize and reward achievements using approved programs.

• Facilitate team meetings and ensure effective shift hand‑off communication.

• Oversee production operations, including monitoring safety conditions, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions using Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Why, and corrective/preventive action methods.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including KPI improvement, process optimization, and cost‑saving projects utilizing Lean and Six Sigma approaches.

• Monitor and act upon key operational metrics such as scrap, waste levels, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

• Manage staffing levels, maintain cross‑training matrices, and participate in recruitment and selection of team members.

• Collaborate with other departments to support new product introductions and equipment launches.

• Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, including participation in audits and adherence to site standards.

• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Conduct testing and inspection of components per manufacturing instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and production records.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Adhere to shift schedules and production timelines.
  • Respond to inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
  • Clearly explain products, services, and policies to customers.
  • Escalate complex issues to supervisors or specialized departments as needed.
  • Execute production tasks with attention to detail and quality.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead or support special projects aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying process improvements or automation opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.

Education & Work Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of related experience

Education & Work Preferences

•  Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing preferred.

• Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving (5Y, fishbone) experience preferred.
