Summary
The Team Leader drives manufacturing excellence at the shop-floor level by coaching, guiding, and developing hourly associates to achieve optimal performance in Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost. The role ensures consistent application of policies, supports continuous improvement, and fosters a collaborative, inclusive team environment. The Team Leader partners with cross-functional groups to address operational issues, support new product integration, and maintain production flow using standardized work and lean practices.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership presence on the manufacturing floor and ensure daily performance management.
• Coach associates to meet or exceed goals in safety, quality, service, and cost.
• Administer company policies consistently and promote a positive, inclusive culture.
• Ensure training completion and support ongoing skill development.
• Facilitate team meetings, shift handoffs, and communication across teams.
• Support improvement of KPIs including OEE, efficiency, scrap, and schedule adherence.
• Conduct and support safety investigations and corrective actions.
• Address quality issues through problem-solving and preventative measures.
• Manage staffing, cross-training, and selection of team members.
• Lead or support projects, Kaizen events, and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Planning on new product and equipment integration.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Conduct testing and inspection of components per manufacturing instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and production records.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Adhere to shift schedules and production timelines.
- Physical presence during scheduled shifts
- Respond to inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
- Clearly explain products, services, and policies to customers.
- Escalate complex issues to supervisors or specialized departments as needed.
Education & Work Requirements
- HS/Secondary school with 0-1 years of related experience
Education & Work Preferences
Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing preferred.
• Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving (5Y, fishbone) experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP and shop‑floor data systems.
