Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production operations at the shop-floor level, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing performance. This role leads and develops production teams, drives continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and production systems, and supports both existing operations and new product, process, or equipment introductions. The Supervisor ensures alignment with organizational objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development, while maintaining compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and internal standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise production teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and engagement objectives.
• Coach, develop, and evaluate team members, including performance feedback, development planning, and training support.
• Provide leadership to the team(s) under the incumbent’s areas of responsibility to coach and enable Manufacturing Team Leaders, support Engineers and Associates to be successful in meeting or exceeding team goals in safety, quality, service, and cost in an environment of continuous improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles, HPS/production system tools, Kaizen, 5S, and standard work.
• Monitor and improve operational performance metrics, including OEE, scrap, downtime, throughput, and cycle times.
• Ensure production plans are executed in line with customer demand, equipment capability, and staffing capacity.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and project teams to resolve process and product issues.
• Support new product introductions, equipment launches, and manufacturing process changes.
• Ensure accurate, updated, and compliant manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, BOMs, routings, and manufacturing procedures.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe work environment and ensure adherence to company policies and labor practices.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements and support corrective and preventive action activities.
• Maintain positive working relationships and foster team engagement across shifts.
• Monitor production performance across all shifts and respond to operational issues in real time.
• Analyze equipment and process performance to improve reliability, cycle times, and capacity utilization.
• Identify systemic issues and lead structured problem-solving activities (e.g., root cause analysis, A3, CAPA).
• Confirm adherence to standard work, quality standards, safety requirements, and production system expectations.
• Optimize material flow, layout, and workspace organization to improve efficiency, safety, and ergonomics.
• Support execution of performance and operational qualifications for processes and equipment.
• Identify and address challenges associated with new manufacturing projects and program launches.
• Lead the implementation and sustainment of HPS / production system elements in assigned areas.
• Ensure timely development, ramp-up, and stabilization of production programs.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members to build operational capability and a leadership pipeline.
• Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor and use digital systems and reports to monitor and communicate performance. 
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education & Work Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8-12 years of related experience

Education & Work Preferences

• Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) in engineering, operations, or business.
• Demonstrated experience in people leadership or supervisory roles within manufacturing.
• Proven track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives and managing operational performance.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and, where applicable, multinational or multicultural environments.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or similar).
• Lean, Six Sigma, or production system certifications.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and shop-floor data collection and analysis tools.
• Experience supporting new product introductions, capital projects, or equipment commissioning.
