Summary:
The New Product Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of product design and development for both new products and enhancements to existing ones. This includes the management and execution of product design, specifications, test method development, product usability, problem-solving, prototypes, Design Excellence, and quality initiatives. The role is responsible for leading, guiding, and developing an R&D team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and high-performance, while ensuring the completion of successful projects and initiatives. Strong collaboration with other departments such as marketing, design assurance, quality, clinical, engineering, operations, is essential to ensure alignment across resources, priorities, and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and oversees all product development activities, from ideation to market launch, for new products and enhancements. Manages the design and development process, ensuring effective planning, execution, concept development, usability, problem-solving, detailed specifications, prototyping, testing, and design controls
- Leads, motivates, and develops direct reports to execute projects as a high-performing team. Provides stretch assignments, defines training needs, and sets impactful goals. Coaches on design practices, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management. Hires, retains, and gives ongoing performance feedback to a highly qualified team
- Effectively and efficiently manages resources, including time, budget, and personnel, to meet project goals and deadlines
- Works with team members to ensure good planning and execution of product design and development activities/requirements (includes design, specs, test methods, problem-solving techniques, design controls, Design Excellence, etc.)
- Demonstrates a business-first perspective, balancing decisions and priorities across diverse needs. Excels in effective decision-making, negotiation, and making timely choices amid risk and uncertainty
- Acts as a technical individual contributor when needed. This may include supporting projects as a R&D lead, assisting project teams with technical knowledge, or completing a special assignment in support of functional or business strategy
- Prepares and monitors the annual New Product Development budget, ensuring adequate resourcing for projects and activities. Oversees mid-year and year-end reporting and collaborates quarterly with project teams to track milestones and budget alignment
Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or Science)
- Master’s degree in Science or Engineering or Masters of Business (MBA) preferred
- Extensive product design and development experience in similar environment
- Proven ability to develop a team culture that leads to ongoing excellence and achievement of goals
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
- Leadership skills, decision making, and project management skills
- Ability to concurrently manage a variety of projects and coordinate the efforts of multiple team members
- Design controls knowledge
- Ability to analyze and use technical data and resources
- Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with functions outside of R&D
- Work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
- Work with external suppliers, contractors, technical professionals, and consultants as needed.
- Fundamental understanding of process development and manufacturing as it relates to product development
- Ability to create a vision and mobilize the team to execute against it
- Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (QSRs)
- Professional proficiency in English

Salary:
4500-6200 €/month Gross
From 4500 (before taxes) after assessing your competencies and work experience.
