Summary

The Lead Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and governing secure, resilient Azure-based cloud and hybrid environments at enterprise scale. The role provides strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure security-by-design across identity, network, workload, and data layers, aligning architectures with Zero Trust principles, industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO), and regulatory expectations. This position establishes secure reference architectures, automated guardrails, and operational standards that enable scalable cloud adoption while maintaining strong risk management, audit readiness, and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain secure Azure cloud and hybrid reference architectures, including landing zones and foundational services.
• Define and implement identity, access, network, and workload security patterns aligned to least-privilege and Zero Trust principles.
• Establish security baselines, hardening standards, and policy-as-code to enable continuous compliance and posture management.
• Integrate cloud security controls into DevSecOps pipelines, including infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and automated testing.
• Lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments; translate findings into actionable remediation plans.
• Enable cloud monitoring, detection, and response capabilities through logging, alerting, and incident playbooks.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and clear architectural guidance to engineers and stakeholders.
• Support disaster recovery, resilience planning, and vendor/security service evaluations

Develop and maintain secure cloud architectures that support business applications and data.
• Ensure security controls are embedded within cloud platforms and services from design through operations.
• Collaborate with technology, risk, and compliance teams to meet regulatory and audit expectations.
• Respond to and support investigation of cloud security incidents and control failures.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel frequently, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.

Education & Work Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8-12 years of related experience

Education & Work Preferences

Master’s degree in a related discipline.
• Professional security or cloud architecture certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security certifications).
• Experience with DevSecOps practices, infrastructure-as-code tooling, and security monitoring platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
