Summary

Contribute to the profitability, continuity, and growth of Hollister Incorporated and lead a Ballina plant maintenance function to the world class maintenance performance.

 

Supervision / development of maintenance management systems on each shift. This will be achieved by coaching, guiding and developing the maintenance team to drive improved business results.

Key in supporting the development of maintenance strategy and ensuring its deployment on each shift. 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance: Management of a shift based, plant-wide maintenance team (Ostomy, Continence Care & Electrician) ensuring that a productive work environment is in place to allow for the development of a best-in-class maintenance team. Proactively work to resolve issues as they occur ensuring that team are able to ‘Live The Legacy’.   30%

 

  1. Manufacturing Machines Maintenance: Ensure the plant is maintained in a manner that ensures that manufacturing machines runs at the world class level. Oversee all maintenance or upgrades will be carried using Maintenance Pool (Electricians, Fitters) and/or Contractors, Engineers as appropriate. 15%

 

  1. Maintenance Strategy: Support the development and execution of Maintenance strategy which will deliver to the best-in-class site performance. Working with the Plant Leadership Team and other functions to implement and sustain planned maintenance strategy. 10%

 

  1. Preventative Maintenance (PM): Manage the PM System ensuring that all planned work is completed to exceed the target completion level according to the schedule using the resources on their shift. Addresses challenges associated with current PM’s by engaging maintenance team on their shift to identify and implement solutions that will work across all shifts. 10%

 

  1. Facility Supervision: Will provide continuity of maintenance responsibility for the operation of the facility during off hours. Ensure containment / corrective actions are at the time of occurrence and they are escalated to facilities team (on day shift) to allow for preventative actions to be identified and implemented. 10%

 

  1. Safety: Is fully familiar with the application of the Company Safety Statement and Health & Safety Legislation applicable to Manufacturing and ensures that all Maintenance Craft across the floor including the direct reports are trained in and apply the safe working practices per these requirements. 5%

 

 

  1. Maintenance Development: Evaluate personnel requirements within the maintenance area and co-ordinate with Human Resources on recruitment. Identify training programs to meet the training needs of new and existing employees. Review the training progress of these trainees and evaluates performance at specified intervals. 5%

 

  1. Industrial Relations: Advise plant leadership on the industrial relations matters pertaining to the Connect. Support as management representative where appropriate and take proactive approach in dealing with any issues and in Negotiations with local and National Union representatives of the TEEU. 5%

 

  1. Department Expenditure: Work within defined spending limits for maintenance overhead budget and lead a spending reduction program to eliminate costs. 5%

 

  1. Support HPS Improvement Program: Act as support and be a team member on projects that are related with the HPS system. Act proactively to support and drive the HPS in area of responsibility. 5%

 

 

Work Experience Requirements

  • At least 8 years’ experience in a progressive manufacturing environment including at least 3 years in a people leadership role.
  • Strong track record of managing change in a high volume manufacturing environment through the hands-on application of lean tools, maintenance best practices and employee engagement techniques

 

Education Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) is required.
  • Candidates with a FÁS time-served apprenticeship or an alternative degree may be considered only if they possess substantial experience in maintenance or a reliability role and are actively pursuing an accredited degree.

 

 

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:

  • This role operates on a continental shift pattern, so the successful candidate will need to be willing to work this shift pattern.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of modern, effective production processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with an ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of the application of maintenance planning / scheduling, preventative and predictive maintenance and SMED are required for the role.
  • Knowledge of the principles of reliability engineering / maintenance planning and the practical application of the techniques is required.
  • Specialized skills and technical knowledge in high volume flexible manufacturing process using mechanical / electrical / electronic and pneumatic technologies.
  • Practical Experience of working in a unionized environment.
