Summary
The Warehouse Team Lead oversees warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate flow of materials across receiving, storage, internal movements, and outbound processes. The role leads and develops warehouse teams, ensures adherence to quality, safety and compliance standards, and partners cross-functionally to maintain uninterrupted supply to production and distribution. Responsibilities include supporting logistics strategy execution, driving continuous improvement, and sustaining high standards of operational excellence.
Responsibilities
• Lead and develop warehouse teams, ensuring clear priorities, effective task delegation, and consistent performance.
• Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, storage, internal transfers, picking, staging, and shipping.
• Ensure timely and accurate material flow between internal and external warehouses.
• Maintain warehouse accuracy through cycle counting, physical inventory, and compliance with the Inventory Control System.
• Uphold safety, housekeeping (5S), and compliance standards; respond to EHS events and ensure proper PPE usage.
• Support implementation and sustainment of enterprise systems (SAP/S4, Oracle, WMS).
• Track and present operational performance metrics; identify and execute improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with production, supply chain, engineering, and quality to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Oversee use, maintenance and inspection of warehouse equipment.
• Plan staffing, schedules, and timekeeping for warehouse teams.
• Provide training, coaching, cross‑training and onboarding for warehouse employees.
• Support cost‑reduction initiatives, process optimization and continuous improvement projects.
• Deputize for Warehouse & Logistics leadership when required.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing within warehouse and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to lift materials in accordance with safety requirements.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifting platforms.
• Work in varying temperature, noise and environmental conditions.
• Prolonged periods working with computers to manage documentation and systems.
• Communicate effectively across teams and provide instruction, feedback, and training.
• Navigate large facility areas and multi‑shift operational needs.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Lifting, pulling and/or pushing up to 20 pounds
- Maintain accurate documentation and timely reporting.
- Maintain and analyze data using tools like Excel, SAP, or HRIS systems.
- Use handheld scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS) to log inventory.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Work Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of related experience
Education & Work Preferences
• 5–8 years of experience in warehouse or supply chain operations.
• Experience leading teams in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Knowledge of warehouse processes, material flow, inventory control and ERP/WMS systems.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high operational standards.
• Experience working in a regulated, safety‑focused or unionized environment is beneficial.
• Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering or related field preferred; vocational qualifications also acceptable with relevant experience.
• Experience with SAP/S4, WMS systems, or CMMS tools.
• Certifications in Lean, APICS/CPIM, or similar supply chain/operations disciplines.
• Forklift and equipment operation certifications preferred.
• Experience in continuous improvement frameworks (Lean/5S/HPS).
