This position will be located at Hollister’s corporate headquarters in Libertyville, Illinois, and reporting directly to Hollister’s Associate General Counsel, Risk Management and Litigation. The Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice and guidance on matters of significance in the areas of litigation, employment, general commercial as well as corporate governance and other general matters.  The Corporate Counsel partners and collaborates both within the Law function as well as with other functions and business units.  Roles within the department shift from time to time, so this position has a likely opportunity to assume different responsibilities in other geographical regions and/or functional areas.



•         Manage and lead employment and litigation matters (e.g. independently conduct legal and factual research and investigation, provide general litigation assistance and support (pre-trial and trial))

•         Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of agreements relating to Hollister’s businesses, including but not limited to employment agreements, settlement agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, retention bonus agreements, fixed term agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and commercial agreements

•         Provide legal advice in the areas of litigation, employment, compensation and benefits, insurance coverage, OSHA, worker’s compensation, product liability and other areas as assigned or requested

•         Manage legal projects on behalf of the company, often acting as the lead in-house counsel, acting independently and providing direction and leadership to others in various functions

•         Develop policies, guidelines, and forms

•         Train others within the Company from time to time

•         Conduct legal research as needed

•         Communicate with Hollister Associates on behalf of the Law Department, as appropriate from time to time

•         Other duties as assigned or requested


Experience required:

•         Number of Overall Years Necessary: 3-5 years

•         3-5 years litigation and contract drafting experience in a law firm


Education required:  

JD from ABA accredited law school required


Technical skills:

•         Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to use analytical skills and good judgment to make key decisions

•         Ability to work independently (i.e. with minimal supervision)

•         Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

•         Excellent organizational skills

•         Ability to maintain confidentiality

•         Ability to draft complex legal agreements and documents

•         Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook

•         License to practice law and in good standing under the Illinois Bar or the Bar of any state that enables admission to practice as in-house counsel in Illinois (with the condition that such person be admitted to practice as in-house counsel in Illinois under Rule 716 no later than three months after commencing employment with Hollister)
