Summary:

 

The Associate Engineer R&D contributes to a project, from design phase to commercialization by supporting or completing functional deliverables. The position creates and/or analyzes basic test data and interprets results.  The position receives general instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new projects and assignments.   The position exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.  The second level operates under less supervision than the first and demonstrates an understanding of company policies and procedures. Hollister operates in a hybrid work environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Creates and/or analyze basic test data and interpret results
  • The position contributes to a project, from design phase to commercialization. Assists with developing actions, timetables, and resource estimates for technical projects
  • Creates test methods to support design and development deliverables, human factors, and end user requirements
  • Actively participates on cross-functional project teams
  • Supports the completion of team deliverables
  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships
  • Implements technical projects; reviews the results with internal (or, in some cases, external) customers
  • Identifies potential challenges and proactively works to address them
  • Ability to perform Technician duties when needed (perform lab tests, prepare samples, write protocols or reports, etc.)

 

 Essential Functions of the Role:

  • With minimal oversight, ability to create 3-D designs and 2-D product/fixture drawings.  Ability to read and interpret accurately 2-D drawings and specifications
  • Ability to modify existing or create new product specifications/test methods that reflect a basic understanding of user needs and simulate user environments in a controlled laboratory setting with a calculated factor of safety. Testing results must be clearly documented and communicated
  • Support or have the ability to generate prototypes and product samples with oversight
  • Basic ability to search, read, interpret, understand and gain insights from external standards, such as ASTM, ISO, ANSI, etc.
  • Requires assistance and oversight to either create or coordinate with an internal resource or an external contractor to conduct analysis of variance, experimental design, measurement system analysis (gauge R&R), tolerance analysis, etc.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of an Engineering Bachelor’s degree (relevant to position) and 0-2 years of related experience in Engineering
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in accomplishing well-defined tasks
  • Understands and regularly uses available information resources and systems
  • With assistance works to solves technical issues using alternative or unique approaches
  • Developing in their working knowledge of the market and customer needs
  • Demonstrates basic awareness of current technological trends, especially within their specific discipline
