Summary

The Global Contract Manufacturing Project Manager, based in Libertyville, Illinois, will represent Global Operations as a Core Team Member of key new product development project.  The Project Manager will work closely with Global Operations, Global Engineering, Quality Assurance, New Product Development (NPD), and Research and Development (R&D) to ensure timely implementation and commercialization of the contract manufactured device.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities between Third Party Manufacturer and Global Operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Third Party Manufacturers and functional managers to gain the cross-functional support needed to drive successful commercialization at the expected quality and cost.
  • Lead Third Party Manufacturer selection team.
  • Lead Make vs Buy analysis, COGS modeling & Cost “glide path” modeling.
  • Lead development of Finished Goods manufacturing supply chain.
  • Challenge product design & manufacturing process, with a focus on Electro-Mechanical specific requirements.
  • Provide input to Manufacturing Maturity Assessment.
  • Coordinate with NPD, Strategic Sourcing, Plants and Suppliers to define raw material and WIP supply chains.
  • Manage design transfer activities to Third Party Manufacturers.
  • Assist NPD with development of WIP & FG specifications and requirements for suppliers.
  • Provide technical input in to the development of manufacturing test methods for use at Third Party Manufacturer.
  • Coordinate with Process Development Engineering and Third Party Manufacturer on process development activities.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Third Party Manufacturer on processes qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ) activities.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory expectations
  • Define and execute activities to support the system as deployed in the field (warranty claims and system maintenance & support).

 

Requirements

Leadership

  • Frequently demonstrate highly technical and professional competencies on high profile projects.
  • Lead teams and/or individuals, using direct or indirect influence techniques.
  • Lead activities across multi-functional and cross-geographical teams to meet deliverables. 

Communication

  • Provide regular updates and manage extensive communications both up and down in the organization to keep key stakeholders appropriately engaged and informed to drive success of a project.
  • Use clearly understood metrics to report progress.

Project/Program Management

  • Experience with project management tools and skills to create, support, and manage the development of project goals, schedules, and tasks.
  • Obtain (negotiate for) resources as needed, communicate direction to team members, assign tasks as appropriate, and ensure that commitments are met.
  • Monitor project progress to anticipate problems and develop solutions before they become critical, and use clearly understood metrics to report progress to management.

Business Acumen

  • Use sound business principles to evaluate alternatives and provide technical direction.
  • Understand accounting principles, capital, and expense planning in support of project/program and departmental performance.

 

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree, with focus in Electro-Mechanical
  • 5yrs+ experience in engineering, with a focus on elector-mechanical systems & their application in a manufacturing environment (wearable medical device / pharmaceutical industry preferred)
  • 5yrs+ Project Management experience.
  • 10-15% domestic travel
