SUMMARY: 

 

The successful candidate will be capable of leading or supporting projects that drive the development and integration of new materials, processes or technologies into new and existing products.

 

The successful candidate will also have a good understanding of medical device design controls and be capable of participating in cross-functional teams and interfacing with colleagues at all levels within the organization while effectively delivering solutions which benefit our customers.

 

RESPONSIBILTIES: 


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading or supporting projects/project teams to select and demonstrate the feasibility of alternative materials, processes or technologies for new and existing products.
  • Preparation of technical documentation in accordance with regulatory and design control requirements and with the company's development processes.
  • Working with cross functional partners to gather stakeholders input and develop plans to ensure requirements are assessed and met by proposed technical solutions.
  • Developing protocols and experimental test plans and managing the product build, transportation and storage as well as the execution of testing.    
  • Conducting statistical analysis of data and developing detailed reports documenting results, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Representing the Research & Development function on cross-functional teams throughout the New Product Commercialization process.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Academic/Credentials/Certifications

  • An honours Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • A post graduate qualification in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Project Management experience is preferred.

 

Length of experience

 3-5 years’ experience in a technical role ideally in medical device Research & Development, Sustaining Engineering or a Quality function.

                                                           

  Specialised skills/technical knowledge

  • Strong initiative and follow through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles and balancing multiple priorities effectively through strong technical and/or project leadership.
  • A demonstrated track-record of being part of successful cross-functional technical teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and root cause analysis skills.
  • The ability to effectively communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various types of manufacturing, mechanisms, materials, tolerance-analysis and design-for-manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite is required.

 

Desired Specialised skills/technical knowledge

  • Experience of medical device regulations including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), QSR (Quality Systems Regulations) and ISO quality requirements is preferred.
  • Experience in medical device design principals, material selection, design concept validation and test method development is required.
  • Experience of working under medical device design controls, with proven knowledge of design verification/validation and design/process FMEAs is required.
