Summary:

The Specialist Data Developer’s role is to implement and support data warehouses, data marts, and data stores. This individual is also responsible for adhering to data standards and models for warehouse architectures.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Governance

  • Implement governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization. 
  • Support processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; take steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity. 
  • Support methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement. 

Operational Management

  • Support data warehouse improvement and growth projects.
  • Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses and leverage solutions.
  • Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.
  • Execute data warehouse configuration and performance tuning.
  • Analyze system details within the data warehouse, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Support change control for modifications to data systems.
  • Support testing processes for modifications to data systems.
  • Ensures that production fixes are resolved in a timely manner and following the required IT protocols.
  • Develops documentation related to business process design including high level business process overviews, detailed functional specifications, and visual aids such as business process flows.
  • Maintains current documentation as processes evolve over time. Tailors the content of documentation appropriately to the intended audience.

Solution Delivery

  • Create logical models for new data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores.
  • Execute routine process changes and system enhancements with oversight from senior IT resources.
  • Maintains knowledge of current process standards within their function. Understands the impact of process changes to the existing environment.
  • Translates business requirements, functional designs and business scenarios into comprehensive test plans that are used to confirm business processes function as intended prior to implementation.
  • Collaborates with business counterparts and other senior team members to assure integration testing includes all necessary business process variations.
  • Identifies impact on related processes and conducts regression testing of affected areas.

Business Partnering

  • Builds strong collaborative relationships with multiple business stakeholders, managing expectations, providing a clear point of contact within IT for each business stakeholder and acting as a bridge between IT and the technology.
  • Understands and defines how services currently offered by IT can be put to best use and create value for the business, working collaboratively with the IT Leader and business stakeholders to define and prioritize technology initiatives that will bring the most business benefit.
  • Develops a deep-set knowledge of the business, knowledge of the industry and knowledge of technological solutions to transform the way the business operates and provides services to its customers

 

 

Essential Functions of the Role**:

  • Talk on the phone, text messaging, video calls with suppliers and Hollister Associates
  • Read technical manuals/trade journals
  • Use a personal computer and strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Visio
  • Travel via plane or automobile

Work Experience Requirements

  • Number of Overall Years Necessary: 5-8
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology
  • Recent experience in implementation and on-going support of Azure Data Infrastructure including Synapse, Data Lake, Storage Accounts, SQL Server, Data Factory & Power BI is required
  • Experience with developing solution in Microsoft’s Cloud(Office 365, Azure)
  • Experience with interacting with and integrating of SAP data is required
  • Experience with validation in a medical device field preferred

Education Requirements

  • Associate degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
  • Azure and other related Microsoft certification a plus

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and influencing.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness and creativity in solving architecture related challenges.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Azure cloud technologies: SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, cloud and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Understanding of security by design concepts and how to integrate security into infrastructure to protect information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Experience with various information modeling techniques (e.g. data flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams).

 

  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to understand oral descriptions of complex business processes and technical content. Converses with business users using common business vocabulary, avoiding technical jargon. Takes measures to test common understanding including paraphrasing and slowing their speech pattern.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to document complex business processes and technical content using common business terminology. Uses visual aids like process flows or decision tables to supplement verbal explanations.
